How much space for a SST or dual seat sim?

I'm currently flying from the desk in the attic and am thinking of moving to a SST on the first instance and then maybe a dual seater.

I've already got Simujabs yoke, FDS MCP EFIS and TQ. Simworld CDU bay with FDS CDU Installed.

Given weight concerns in the loft I think I'm going to need to purchase a shed and insulate it, install electrics etc.

I've got a bit of space available to me so need to work out which size shed I buy and do I buy one that will take a dual seater eventually.

I've got a space of approx:-

7mtr x 2.1mtr

In the first instance my sim will be a SST with 3 X 23" LED screens as out of the window view but I would like to get a projector and screen eventually.

The SST I'm looking at is Simworlds plug and play MIP. I may eventually get their cockpit structure so I can mount overheads, and feel like I'm a true cockpit etc but looking at the dimensions of it the area I have isn't wide enough. Could I turn the sim around meaning width isn't an issue but depth is at 2.1 mtr. Would I be able to get out of the sim etc?

Anyway that aside, my main questions are:-

1. For a SST with projector screens what size shed would you recommend?

2. For a dual seater with projector screens what size shed would you recommend?

3. In terms of storing my sim in a shed (UK based) what would you recommend in terms of shed construction, felt roof, insulation etc.

Thanks

Hi all,

Any views on the size shed I would need?

Also, any pointers on how to fit out a shed suitable for running all this expensive kit?  i.e. insulation, roof types etc for a shed.

Thanks in advance..

Any ideas anyone how much space you would need to allocate for a SST + projector?

Would this fit in a 10 x 7 shed?

Where do you guys store you simulators as I am worried about putting it in a shed as its a lot of £££...

AS I am in a posting mood ..your shed size is fine and way better than attic ... I think size you have is cozy I know of one that houses his sim in 8000 sqft so it's horses for courses right others like BSD have dedicated facilities to play in what ever size you have it will work others have on basements ..your issue is how to get power and AC to shed :-) it's going to get hot in there ... get insurance rider on house for sim as named item with value ..and a good lock

My $0.02 worth.

I think you'll discover 10x7 may not be enough once you start building. Aside from the sim itself, you'll need space for the computers, probably some heating/cooling equipment, a beer fridge, a workbench, and probably a bed for those long haul flights. :-)

Especially if you have a projector... You'll want the image to be as large as possible and that will eat up space.

Regardless, I'm jealous that you'll have dedicated space for your project!

I am more than happy to receive your $0.02 worth :-)

Yes, I feel that 10 x 7 may be sufficient for only a SST and then it could be limited..

My other thought is to use it the other way round any have 7 x 10, so 10 feet wide.  At the moment I am about 6ft from the back of my chair to the very front of my desk (so about 5ft from the screens to the back of my chair).

Would it work better that way around?  Or would I need more than 7 ft from projector screen to back of chair?

Just out of interest, has anyone used and converted a caravan into a 737 cockpit?  If so is this felt its a good idea, or am I best to stick with the shed idea?

Cant fly but for sure can move better than a shed.
Why not if its roomy enough.
:D
Heating /cooling/ power same as the shed though!
