One of the things I notice when I'm flying is that the pit is always dark... all the time... even when the projected image is clear blue skies at high noon.

So I got to thinking.... "How can I simulate ambient light in the pit?"

Going to try this project shortly with some RGB LED strips and a micro-controller. I figure I can get the local time from the sim, as well as weather conditions, and bathe the interior with the appropriate ambient light! Sunrise and sunset should be awesome!

I've had this idea for years now. Never had time to work on it.

If you want to use high power LED's and driving/dimming system that has an DMX inteface, my company manufactures them.
Note they arn't cheap, but I can give free tech support :P

Less fancy "static" solution but happy with it until a better one shows up :

12V 3/4" neons. Check RV/automotive at Walmart. Comes in various length. One on top of the door One on each side.

I tried various leds but the light color is too blue or too yellow.
