How to start networking?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the stage that my computers are ready for networking, can you give me tips where to put software etc?.

I'm using 3 computers, 1 of them is my flightsim computer. I have to run the following software, please can you give tips on what PC I need to install it?or connect it to.
- Project magenta full package
- 1 x Engravity CDU
- CPflight MCP, 2X EFIS (both the RS232 version)
- Teamspeak
- IVAP for IVAO
- Active Sky

My 10 cents   

The fastest computer : (minimum 3.16 MHz Core2Duo)
FS9, pmMCP, Active Sky, CP Flight MCP and EFIS controllers, FS outside view

Slower PC #1
CPT + F/O ND and PFD

Slower PC #2
EICAS + pmCDU + Engravity CDU

I suggest an extra PC or cheap laptop for TS + IVAP + charts - if budget permits a PC + a pressure sensitive 15 or 17" screen.

You will need the extra PC for system support too - via Teamviewer (free for non commercial use].
This since part of all MIP screens are covered and therefore difficult to do maintenance jobs on.
With Teamviewer you have easy access from one computer to all networked computers and screens as well as file transfer possibilities.  A program a sim definitely cannot be without.
The older VNC can do much the same, but not so good.

I use VNC and 95% OK (sometimes It freezes)
Are U 100% satisf. with Teamviewer?.

My experience with it:
Agreed with Bjorn, keep the MCP on the FS computer. no big load and avoids some issues.
PFD/ND need a bit more juice than EICAS to have silk smooth graphics.
I found that the CDU loves having its own computer. I use an simple old P4 with W2K and all is very stable.

I agree with Jack here. MCP will work on a network computer but I found annoying delays. I would run the MCP on the FS computer as well. I ran the PFD/ND on it's own computer, 1 for pilot and 1 for FO. PM sounds ran on a number of the computers, CDU ran on an older computer but alone and the RCDU and lower EICAS shared one. This is pretty close to what my last setup was.

Jack,  Teamviewer is vastly superior to VNC and runs like a charm on XP and WIN7.  Change and you will never regret it.   
My pmCDU is on the slowest of my 7 computers, but no delay at all in the network.  (Gigabit adapters).

Beware of Windows Vista though

I use LogMeIn (http://www.logmein.com) for my home computers access. LogMeIn does not need the client computer software installation and allows the access just from the browser from any computer in the world (with the login, of course  )

Free version of LogMeIn  does not have file transfer functionality, however within home network (in case of simulator computers) you can just share folders and use Windows Explorer for that.
